The collection consists of correspondence, annual reports, proposals, progress reports, financial records, copies of legislation, unpublished papers and other material documenting the work of the Center for Marine Affairs from its founding date in 1970 to 1979. The collection consists largely of the files of CMA directors Warren Wooster (1970-1972) and Gerald L. Wick (1972- ). The file also includes extensive material from Milner Baily Schaefer and John Dove Isaacs, Directors of the Institute of Marine Resources. The collection includes 21 cassette tapes (11 tapes in English, 10 tapes in Spanish) which record the CMA Workshop: "Coastal and Marine Resource Management and Utilization in Baja, California," Nov. 3-6, 1974.
